UN-WORKING: To undo or destroy (work previously done); the lack or absence of work.

The UN-WORKING project was a series of student and faculty workshops that sought to reframe the condition of architectural labor within design pedagogy. Organized in 2018-2019, the UN-WORKING events—WORK + PLATFORM + SPACE—experimented with alternative formats of design education, examining architectural labor within contemporary landscapes of work, production, and precarity.

Participants: Peggy Deamer, Manuel Shvartzberg, Irene Sunwoo, Claire Zimmerman, Keller Easterling, Douglas Spencer, Francesco Marullo

Organizers: Brittany Utting, Daniel Jacobs

UN-WORKING was made possible by a 2018-2019 Equity Innovation Grant from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan.
